Dow Jones reports that in a plea to the consumer electronics industry, Google Inc. co-founder Larry Page called for more standards and connectivity between different devices and manufacturers.
Similar to how the Internet is connected, electronic devices should have common connections such as power adaptors, as well as compatible software, Page said during his keynote speech at the Consumer Electronic Show late Friday.
He said companies should create devices with open-source software to enable anyone to come up with new ways to improve the devices and their connectivity. "I thought it was something I'd throw out for people to talk about," he said.
